Sara and Devan on carousel Sculpture of lion in Florence, Italy Stuffed boar's head in Siena, Italy

Last year we took a family trip to Florence for my mother's 70th birthday. Here are a few pictures from the week in Florence (and a day trip to Siena).

Question 1

An absolute URL is the complete and unique website address for a file, e.g. http://www.hotcakesbakes.com/cupcakes.php. A relative URL refers to a page file contained within the site root directory. The format is a shorthand for navigating to a nearby file within a site, and it could look like this: ../assets/images/plaza.jpg.

Question 2

The advantage of managing files through DW's Files Panel is that DW automatically updates links and notifies you of any inconsistencies. If you try to manage the files through the computer's hard drive, you may end up with dead links, files that aren't updated, etc...since it's pretty hard to remember where all file references are in your website.

Question 3

The page named index.html is the first page that loads when a user enters your site's URL into the browser.

Question 4

We should be using XHTML 1.0 Transitional doctype for our pages.

Question 5

The tags <em> and <strong> are preferred over <i> and <b> since current practice favors separating content from presentation. The terms "emphasis" and "strong" don't indicate a particular type style, but are more generic tags, which can then be defined within an external CSS file.
