Google Search
While most savvy internet users are familiar with the Google search engine and the filters for images, news, videos, maps, etc., Google offers a wide collection of even more specialized search options. By using Google's built-in filters, the most useful search responses can be returned very efficiently.
By typing queries in a prescribed format, Google will automatically return filtered responses for a wide range of subjects, such as weather, music, prescription drugs, word definitions, trip planning, and package tracking (see sidebar).
For example, in the category of Search by Number, a package tracking number, a patent number, or an area code can be entered without any other modifiers. It is not necessary to visit the FedEx or UPS site to track a package. You don't even have to type "area code".
In the category of Health Search, Google can supply search information about Health Conditions and Medications, with the first response directing you to the Google Health site. Poison Control and Suicide Prevention Lifeline telephone numbers can be located quickly with this specialized automatic search filter.
Google provides useful tips on maximizing the efficiency of your search in the Query Refinements section. Searchers can utilize Plus+ Operator, Related Search, and Fill in the Blank to access their answers even more quickly.
